It is very possible that it has already existed some vineyard misled in Córdoba in the early times of the colony, since it was in the route among the High Peru ( Bolivia ), Tucumán and Whose ( Mendoza ), for where settlers and religious trafficked taking vineshoots.

In the place that the aboriginal ones "Guanusacate denominated ", the priest Jesuit Pedro de Oñate bought, January of 1618, 15 the lands where he began to be formed Jesus' Jesuit Stay María, and already in the writing of the property he makes an appointment the existence of 20.000 vine stumps.

The production of this stay was devoted mainly to the elaboration of wine. In the low plant of the main building they are still the remains, properly conserved, of the presses and on behalf of the old cellar.

In March of 1878 they arrived in Córdoba the first Italian immigrants of the region of the Friuli, and they settled down transitorily already in the House of Expensive, old Jesuit Stay of Caroya that dates of 1616 and it was the hotel of immigrants.

The Avenue San Martin, main artery of Colony Caroya, it is skirted in an extension of ten kilometers by centennial bananas, in a landscape inigualable that recreates diverse colors in autumn and a pleasant sensation in summer.

The RN 9 make easy their access inside the call "Circuit of the Chacinados and the Cheeses" that gastronomic had flavorful .

The immigration friulana contributed besides its typical characteristics, the culture of the work and of the good table.

It can be said that the wine was in the blood of the immigrants, for what the installation of vineshoots was given naturally, and they multiplied along the years, adapting to the Cordovan "terroir."

The wines of Caroya, in general, they were called domestic and affectionately wines of grape "bedbug" or "frambua" for their characteristic aroma and flavor. It is derived of the use of botanical varieties different from the Vitis viníferas, with those that are elaborated the fine wines of the world classically.

In Córdoba, the adaptation of the Vitis labrusca, as the American vines, Isabella, Philadelphia, Concord, etc., it has been excellent, and the elaboration of wines with the techniques and modern teams gave place to soft, aromatic, refreshing and very pleasant wines of drinking.

The main establishments are located in the area of Colony Caroya, where the origins of the vines go back to the XVI century.
