History of Tolhuin
 

Small population of 500 inhabitants, created in 1972 for the installation of families in the area of sawmills and as intermediate point of supply between Río Grande and Ushuaia. It is located to the foot of the Hill Michi, near to the Turbio river and it counts with central of calls, center of health, police, bar, gomería, radio and television, market, school and chapel. The name Tolhuin (ona) it means «in heart way». Some of their streets take names of the last Indian onas.

The natural charm of Tolhuin is given by geographical, given different factors its location in the limit of the mountainous chain and the plain of the Tierra del Fuego, creating a kind microclimate very different to the other cities of the province.
