The Crenicichla sort has several representatives, widely distribuídos in the Parana river and its affluents. But known lepidota and Cs are C. saxatilis by their use in acuarismo. It is a formidable pregiver. They are very aggressive specially with those of its same captured species and very combative fish to the being. In the Matting of the Iberá the captures are frequent, and although they are of small bearing, with fishing equipment with fly its fishing has great an attractiveness. It has an ample distribution in the basin of the River de la Plata , from the river de la Plata to Misiones.

It is of extended body and with one long dorsal fin that starts off from behind the head and almost to the end of the fin of great volume. The mouth is terminal and slightly inclined upwards, with heavy lips. The fin of great volume is cleared and presents a spot in form of ocelo at the end of pedúnculo almost of great volume. The lateral line runs by one of flanks and pedúnculo is interrupted when beginning of great volume, but it is continued underneath like a different line. They take the artificial decoys very well.
