The province of Corrientes is located in the northeast of the country.
The province of Corrientes is divided administratively in 25 departments. The provincial limits are to the north with the Republic of the Paraguay, to the northeast, with the province of Misiones; to the east, with the Federative Republic of the Brazil and the oriental Republic of the Uruguay; to the south, with the province of Entre Ríos; and to the west, with those of the Chaco and Santa Fé. It is understood between the 27º and the 31º of south latitude and the 55º and the 60º of longitude west. |
Corrientes have a surface of 88.199 km2. In 2001, year in that was carried out the last population census, it had 930.991 inhabitants (459,458 males and 471.533 women).
The Capital is Corrientes (268.315 inhabitants). Other important cities are: Goya, Curuzú Cuatiá and Paso de los Libres. |
