History of Goya

Casa de la Cultura de Goya

It is an old city located beside the Paraná River. It doesn't have a recognized foundation date; nevertheless in 1771 it was given the name of Goya. In 1771, it was a post on the way to Buenos Aires.

At the moment, it is the second city of the province, it has 80.000 inhabitants and it is regarded as the tobacco's capital city. This city keeps the memory of the tragic love story of Camila O Gorman and Ladislao Gutiérrez, during Juan Manuel de Rosas Government.

Though the economic base of the city is not tourism, it has several attractiveness that make of it a recommended place to visit.

It is possible to fish there, to share carnival or to watch the swallows arrival in September. Goya has an appropriate tourist infrastructure. It has modern hotels, huts, and camping sites beside the river.

It also has a casino, sweet shops, discos, etc, that allow the tourist to enjoy the night life.
