To Estancias and the Pucará

Walk suggested for those that arrived to Andalgalá for the RP46.

Travel of 206 round trip km for a consolidated road and of earth. There are simple hotels in The Poplar and Good View. From The Stays, a very picturesque option to follow San Miguel of Tucumán is for the hill of the Clavillo.

From the crossing (km 0) with the RP48, consolidated, it leaves to the right a round trip proposed circuit of 38 km . You can also continue for this route until Concepción (to 82 km ) and San Miguel of Tucumán.

Estancias

They are 4 km until Good View, the first town. From there, will go into 15 km it fences inside. It will find places to camp and a spa in Good View, as well as simple lodgings in several towns.

In the spectacular valley of the Aconquija will be able to know a group of populations: Good View, The Poplar, Aconquija, The Boundary, The Charquiadero, The Meetings and others. The deviation offers landscapes and excellent climates for walks and rest, with a half temperature in summer that rarely overcomes the 20°C .

Here is carried out an important activity agricultural-cattleman, especially producer of potato seed (in The Poplar) that leaves for Tucumán toward the whole country.

Their agricultural fields need artificial watering and they contrast with the humid subtropical forest that extends in Tucumán from the hill of the Clavillo.

These marked differences in towns so next are caused by the mountainous cord of the Snowy ones of the Aconquija that acts like an icy barrier where condenses the humidity of the warm winds of the east. For that reason, the rains are plentiful in Tucumán and they are scare in Catamarca.

The area of The Stays had populous prehispanic aboriginal establishments. The archaeological location of The Poplar has given its name to one of the most important stages in the culture diaguita, 2.000 years old. It highlights for their excellent sculptural works in stone that you/they can be appreciated in the Archaeological Museum Adam Quiroga, in San Fernando of the Valley of Catamarca and in the Provincial Archaeological toilets and Malli of Andalgalá.

In the Municipality of Aconquija can make contacts to carry out trips and cavalcades for picture, fishing of trouts and hunt of pavas of the mount and huaipos (local partridges of red wings). They also offer visits guided to the important ruins of the Pucará of Aconquija (descriptas in the next deviation) and to the Stipend The Located Arbolito to 25 km of Aconquija, there it was opposing the establishment of the culture Poplar for the doctor Alberto Rex González.

Deviation to the Pucara

By the RP1, 1 km after the deviation to The Stays, it leaves left wing an on the way to earth that takes to the Pucara of the Aconquija in 30 km

Pucara of the Aconquija

It is an archaeological location proposed as National Archaeological Park , of 250 km of extension. In this place of extreme aridity they are the monumental ruins of stone of the pucará, important prehispanic strength of times of Incan penetration (XV century D.C.). Built on a plateau of difficult access, to 2.300 m .s.n.m., has pirca walls, partly of 4 m of height that about 3.000 m extends of long and they contain housings, deposits and cult places.
