Walk to the Mirador of the Valley

This is a walk of 4 hours from Pampas Linda and you will find a forest open of Lengas and from the summit you will see the Glacier Meek River, the Black Snowdrift, the Devil's Throat and the valley of Pampas Linda.

Beginning from Pampas Linda should follow the road that Otto goes toward the refuge Meiling for 1 and ¼ km (northwest address). A sign announces us the deviation of the path toward the left. Quickly the landscape goes into in the forest of Coihues , moving progressively away from that of Ñires. The slope increases and the reedbed becomes denser. The path sigzaguea a little as it ascends with marked tendency toward the left by means of upward voyages toward the south. After having lapsed 1 and ½ hs approximately. of march from Pampas Linda, you arrives to the superior part of a cliff. The path continues going up skirting it, until the summit of the highest wall. From this mirador a privileged view of the valley of Pampas Linda is obtained.

If you continues ascending through the dense forest, the signalled path drives us in northwest address, for a dense reedbed and high forest of lengas. Quickly we will arrive to the high of a marked slope that marks the end of the sotobosque of canes and beginning of a forest of soft slope that it exists in the high superior part of the edge of the Hill of the Means.

We walk in address west for the forest open of Lengas (without impassable sotobosque), with prairies of flowers of the station.

The path is nonexistent in this area the open forest allows the traffic since for all sides. As you advances toward the west, the height of the trees goes diminishing and the edge leaves narrowing. In a point, about 30 minutes after having crossed a mallín, the slope increases and in the left part (south) of the edge, the vegetation becomes stocky lenga.

Being very difficult the traffic in this type of vegetation, the path has tendency to surround the stocky lenga for the right (north versante of the edge). The forest here goes also diminishing its height, until a moment in that the path ascends to the edge through one itched opened up in the stocky lenga. This tract leads us to the summit of the edge conformed by rocks of volcanic origin and undergrowths of stocky lenga.

From the summit of the edge an impressive landscape is sighted: to the northwest the valley, cascade and glacier Brown Ovary, to the west the snowy mass glaciaria of the Hill Tronador, and to the Southwest the Glacier Meek River , the Black Snowdrift, the Devil's Throat and the valley of Pampas Linda . The rumor of permanent bottom of the cascades is interrupted continually by thundering of the avalanches that come off of the Tronador and whose sound resounds in sound echoes for the deep valleys of this mountain range. From Pampas Linda until here they take a long time some four hours of march.
