Claromecó is
the main touristic center in Tres Arroyos District
since it is located in the south of the Atlantic
Coast with 100 kilometers of sandy beaches
and waters rich in iron and iodine.
You can get to the city through Nº 3 National Route and Nº 73 Provincial
Route or through Nº 228 Route.
The natural charms of Claromecó place it as an ideal site to enjoy a deserved
rest among big dunes that provide you with the chance of going on all kinds of
excursions and crossings.
This region is well known as " The fishers' paradise" since it has a varied ichthyic
richness and being sport fishing the main activity to enjoy The water in Claromecó has higher
temperatures than the water in other seaside resorts in Buenos Aires Province.
This is so due to the fact that there is a template current that waters the
coast coming from Brazil and contributing to make this resort a special one.
Among the activities you can enjoy in the beach, you will find rowing,
surfing, windsurfing, cannoeing, kayaq and water skiing. You can also practise
soccer, tennis, paddle, volleyball and horse riding in the different
recreational centers in the beach. In the city, you can walk along the Ocean
Drive, the main square framed by María Auxiliadora Chapel, the Regional Museum
and the Craftmen´s Fair. Two kilometers away from the city center, there is
a 54 meters high Lighthouse that has a spiral staircase with 278 steps that turn
it into the second highest lighthouse in South America. You can admire a
beautiful view of the fishing boats and long beach. Other attractions you
cannot miss are Claromecó Stream, the Immaculate Conception Cave , the seven
waterfalls excursion, Dunamar Residential neighbourhood and Bellocq Forest
Station that is an ideal place to enjoy picnics, hicking, cycling and horse
riding. Golf lovers can practice this sport in Santana Country Club which
has a beautiful circuit of 9 holes in an undulating piece of land surrounded by
pine trees.
K'la-Rome-Có, it means in Araucanian,
triple dilutes, literally three streams, and
in second term it breaks down in the following
way: Kula or K'la (three), Rome (jonquil) and
Kó (it dilutes) that would mean Three
streams with jonquils.
Located next to the outlet of the stream of the
same name, takes a bath their coast the Ocean
Atlantic.
It has wide beaches, of several kilometers of
extension, of rich sands in banks of clams and
whose waters overcome in several grades to those
of other spas. A long chain of dunes, of up to
30 m. of height, it grants certain espectacularidad
to the landscape. It is outstanding place for
those fond of the fishing of the corvine quarter
note and blond, they meet here annually.
The Lighthouse of Claromecó is the highest
in the Argentina and the second of South America.
It has 60 meters high and their construction
obeyed the necessity of trying to avoid that
the ships approach to the typical sandy banks
of the area that hinder the coastal sailing.
The area was in its origins remote residence
of the tribes Puelches and Moluches to who are
assigned a 13.000 year-old antiquity.
It classifies them to him in two different types
for their way of life: some farmers that cultivated
to feed and they were sedentary and the other
hunters, wandering and nómades.
The realized excavations have offered stone instruments
and human remains that denote the existence of
an indigenous cemetery. This quantity and diversity
of found elements reveals the presence of a group
of permanent residence that possibly carried
out its hunts for the marine coast maintaining
its seat in a toldería located in the
riverside of the river.
The Jesuit, like in other areas of our country,
they were the precursors of the colonization
from Buenos Aires when the Spaniards grieve they
dared to cross the River Matanzas. To the season,
they had already established four towns to 400
km of Buenos Aires.
In 1748 a group of missionaries began exploration
trips, among which the father was José Cardiel
that in his mission to the River of the Sallow
passed for the place that at the moment occupies
the spa.
Toward the year 1830 these lands were awarded
by the system of grace, for the livestock breeding.
In 1832 they happen, financing the Ocean Atlantic,
the captains Parker King and Roberto Fitz Roy
that lead to the celebrated naturalistic Carlos
Darwin.
The first surveyor that measured lands that later
on would be part of the spa, it was Raymundo
Prat, January 14 1836. The mensuration corresponded
to the land granted in emphyteusis to Francisco
Rodríguez of Socas or to Luis Benito Boado,
on the stream Claromecó.
New farmers will be happened this way like: the
Rivera, the Alive ones, the Noriega, the Uriarte,
propellers of the colonization, the Lefrançois,
the Jonas, the Massini, the Rodríguez
Larreta, and the Bellocq. All determined ones
in consolidating the fecundity of these fields
for the path of the work and of the progress.
Later on Juan Bellocq acquired most of them and
it founded the stay "San Francisco".
After its death, the children inherited the lands
and they began to promote what called "the
corner of Claromecó". Swiftly became
the place looked for by the villagers to enjoy
the summers and the first houses of the village
began to be built toward 1910.
In 1901 the first hotel was inaugurated whose
proprietor was Antonio Fernández Molina.
In 1919 the family Bellocq, keeping in mind the
importance that had acquired the place like center
spa, proposed the Government from Buenos Aires
the formation of the Spa Claromecó and
as in charge of the mensuration to the engineer
Arsenio Bergallo,
